Sondelo is a crowdfunding platform that enables people to raise money for different causes like celebrations of weddings to contributions of medical bills or community initiatives. It simply puts the Ugandan way of fundraising into digital form with a far more reaching and easy way. It is enabled by mobile money wallet.

How it works

A person to run a fundraising campaign signs up using the mobile phone number that they will use to withdraw their collections off the platform. After signing up, one has to start a campaign, this should have a name, description of the cause, start date and end date and a target amount that they are fundraising for then push it out to the public. People who visit the platform are able to see the different running fundraisers and they can decide to contribute to any they wish to. All contributions can be seen in the fundraisers dashboard according to the campaign that they are running. Once the end date is reached, the campaign will stop and the person fundraising will withdraw the money onto their mobile money wallet.
